Chew Brook

Oil landscape by Yorkshire artist Jo Sykes

“I just love the Dovestone National Park in the North Peak District and I have spent a lot of time exploring much of it. It has so much to offer with lots of paths for walking, 3 reservoirs in the winding basin gouged into the moors, woods, ravines, steep cliff faces and lots of rocks to explore. There are some spectacular, gritty views but also some really pretty parts, particularly where Chew Brook winds down the hillside from Chew Reservoir towards Greenfield. This little painting was inspired by an autumn walk up the spectacular Chew Valley when the hills had turned to burnished bronze.”
