Chew Valley, Dovestones Reservoir

We walked up this valley in autumn when everything was rust and golden, and I started this painting during a time when I needed to let off a lot of energy. So the painting is big and bold which describes really well this valley! I decided to use oils to be able to pick out the textures in the landscape and the softer side as vegetation was turning colour and settling towards winter. But to stop the painting become too dreary I exaggerated the hints of pink and green still remaining, and the dark, slightly brooding ravine in the distance.

Oil on canvas, with a quality, handmade oak frame. Overall size 545 x 750 x 26mm

£210, which includes packaging and postage within the UK or personal delivery within 15 miles of Huddersfield.
